It’s time once again for the FDIC,  beginning this April 16th, 2012, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you haven’t attended the FDIC (Fire Department Instructors Conference) before, it is the largest fire fighter training conference of its kind in the world. The HME CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) the nation's first compressed natural gas powered fire and rescue truck, has been turning heads on its early spring, West Coast swing.

When you think of California, and Southern California in particular, what comes to mind first? If you’re old, it’s probably the Mama’s and Papa’s California Dreaming, or the Beach Boys melodies about surfing and their Little Deuce Coupe. If you’re from the younger generation it’s more likely Snoop Dogg and Katie Perry rapping out a new age version of California Girls, and a parade of the celebrities walking red carpets – or into a court room.

No matter what your age, another perception of California you might carry around could be all those headlines about wildfires, mudslides, and the natural disasters that seem to continually plague the Golden State like clockwork.
